Stop formulas from changing on it own.

I hope someone can help. I set up a spreadsheet. Each
column has a different basic formula. eg column A and
1st line has an amount the column B has a formula of
b=a*2 the 3rd column is c=a*4 and so on down the rows and
column.
My problem is when I enter a number in column A all the
way to line 30 the columns B, C, etc change formulas on
its own. How do I stop it from changing and to keep the
formulas I want.

=$A$1*2
=$A$1*4

?
