Stop Office 2002 adding shortcuts to C:

C

ColorMeUp

Recently edited some documents sent by client via floppy. On floppy were
docs, plus shortcuts to docs and (apparently) shortcuts to folders on
sender's computer and shortcut to her hard drive.

Since working w/ these docs, Word 2002 and Visio 2002 add shortcuts to my C:
(Local Disk) folder for every doc I open, plus all related folders, even
Visio components (over 200 shortcuts after working on 3 documents). These
shortcuts persist after the programs are closed.

Anyone know how this happens, or why, or how to stop it?

Don't edit documents on a floppy, EVER! use Explorer to put them on the
hard drive and edit them there, then copy them back to the floppy.
