Stop pausing video when going back in slides

I'm using Powerpoint 2003 and have managed to stop the video footage pausing
when going forwards in a slide by using custom animation - effect options -
stop playing - after current slide. This doesn't seem to work when going in
reverse.
I need to be able to go back a slide just by clicking once, rather than
having to click once to pause, once again to go back to the previous slide.
Specifically I need to be able to do this using the right mouse button which
I think you can do by turning off
"show pop up menu" under options - view - slideshow.
Is there a way of doing this?

After you insert a video, you will see a play and pause effect in the custom
animation. My suggestion is drag the play effect into the Trigger also (play
first, pause second). Then, set the play to "On mouse click". By doing so,
the movie will only play when you click on them. Now, you should not need to
pause the video before advancing.

I actually work in the disabilities field and I want the slide show to work
by only using the left and right mouse clicks without moving the mouse. (I
have a switch adapted mouse so that the client can control the left and right
mouse buttons by hitting two switches attached to two ports on the mouse).
What this means is that they can't move the mouse in any way to put it over
the movie file. I want them to be able to go forward and backwards in the
slide show, but only hitting the switch once (the whole cause effect thing).
Is there another way to do it.
Thanks,
