stop responding when inserting special symbol

Hi,

When inserting an arrow ==>, or through Insert, Special
Symbol... PowerPoint stops responding on all computers we
have (+50).
Our configuration: Windows 2000 and XP french
Office XP Pro and non PRO french
Pentium 4 processors (2.4GHz,2.8Ghz ans 3.06GHz)
256Mb, 512Mb and 1Gb RAM

I also tried without the antivirus but it doesn't work.

If anybody can help I'll appreciate.

It's a problem with the French autocorrect tools, Raymond.

That thread mentions a hotfix, but I can't find the relevant KB article
on the microsoft site. Sorry. So I'd try turning off the autocorrect
tools for now.
