Stop Tabs

We have a document where we utilize stop tabs (not sure
if that is official name) that allows us to tab through
the document and enter data in specific spots. This
function appears to work while the document is Protected;
however, as soon as you unprotect the document and make a
change to other text within the document and you
reprotect the document again, it deletes all the data you
have entered to that point in the stop tabs.

Is there another way to set up a document that will not
delete the data but will allow us to move throughout the
document and enter in specific data at certain points?

Sounds like your using forms for the function, in which
case the form must be locked to enable tabbing from field
to field. The information entered by the user can be saved
using File | Save As.

You may however want to consider using the Insert | Field
option with a variable. Consider reading...
