stop Word 2007 date format change

Hi,
How do I stop Word 2007 wanting to change any date I type into today's date,
e.g. "2009-07-08 Press ENTER to Insert"? The old version of Word used to do
this too, and it's a ******* nuisance!!

1. Press Alt+F11 to open the Visual Basic Editor

2. Press Ctrl+G to activate/open the Immediate window

3. Enter the following line (or copy from below and paste):

Application.DisplayAutoCompleteTips = False

4. Press Return.

5. You can now close and return to Microsoft Word).

Thanks very much, Graham - that seems to have done the trick! I've kept a
copy just in case it happens again. Is it template-specific, or is the fix
global?
Maybe MS could consider including a simpler fix in a menu somewhere (like
the AutoCorrect menu) in future versions of Word?

Andy, instead of inserting a "date" (or "time") field in your document,
insert a "createdate" field. A "createdate" field automatically inserts
whatever "today's" date is on the day you initially create the document, but
if you open the same document tomorrow, the date field will now read
"yesterday," instead of today's date. (We remedied this problem after we
realized it was "always today" in our letterhead templates at our law firm,
not a good thing if you have to produce the document(s) for the other side in
a lawsuit at some future date!!)
