Stop Word from maximizing all minimized docs upon opening a new doc

Using Windows XP and Word 2003.

When I open a document, all the other Word documents I have minimized
get maximized, and I have to minimize all of them again. Is there a
way to change this behavior (the computer's, not mine) so that my
minimized docs remain so?
