stop word opening up a new screen

Hi there,

everytime i double click on a doc file Word always opens up that file in a
new screen. How do i change this setting. I want Word to open the document
in an existing Word session.

If you must, uncheck Tools | Options | View | Windows in Task bar.
However, I would recommend getting used to leaving that box checked.
Each document is still being opened in the same Word session.
