STOPPED receiving email

A couple of weeks ago some - but not all - of my email started being sent
to a folder I set up for incoming "you talk messages". After a week my email
stopped altogether even though mail is still being posted to my verizon
account. I'm also not receiving "you talk" messages.
Somehow the link to Entourage has been severed.
I don't know how setting up a folder just for you talk messages would have
caused this.
Also, and I don't think this would have caused this but as there were over
3,000 messages in my "microsoft.public.macoffice.entourage newsgroup I
deleted the cache (by the way, the folder still shows a count of 3,599 next
to this folder name).
I'm sorry if I'm over-complicating this problem but this whole thing has got
me bewildered; your help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm running Entourage 2004, ver. 11.4.0 on mac osx, ver 10.5.6

Redirected mail is generally a result of a user accidentally setting up a
Mailing List Manager rule incorrectly. Under Tools in the Menu bar select
Mailing List Manager. Open each rule and check the settings. Especially
check folder destination.

Send & Receive problems are difficult to solve because it involves so many
variables. Let's start with basics:

1. If you can receive but not send then you have a bad SMTP configuration
2. If you can send but not receive you have a bad POP or IMAP configuration

You can try re-entering info.
You can delete account and create a new one.
Using copy/paste can result in an extra space being added. Type carefully.
Check your Keychain for corruption.

I'm also not receiving "you talk" messages.

Your email is showing as subscribed and we are not getting bounced messages
so the messages are being received by Verizon.

What type of account? (POP, IMAP, Exchange)

Ah! Another wrinkle. Could this be multiple problems?

It's possible you have database corruption. Create a new Identity in
Entourage and enter your account info. You can Option-drag over the Rules
file from your old Identity, but I don't suggest using the Mailing List
Manager file. You will have to reset all your Rule folder destinations, but
it's easier than having to start from scratch.
