stopping web page body text as keywords in search engines

While attempting to optimize my website, discovered the bots are using words
from text in body of page for keywords, may of which do not apply. Any idea
how I can get the bots to use just my keyword tags?

You can't.
Search engines use what they use and that's an art in itself (a secret black
art it seems). Many engines don't use keywords as much as they used to...
relevant content is more important.

Most of the main one's don't use the keywords ... do you mean they using the
text as a description? .. what are the keywords your using to bring up your
result .. what is your site name domain or write out exactly what the
results are so we can see.

That behavior is be design, and really cannot be fixed.
The reason is that questionable designers would stuff the keywords and have
no relevant content. So the bots may read the keywords, but they will read
the content. And it would probably be a good thing to have your keywords
relevant to the content

To add...

I find that if my title is of a certain length ...then google generally will
use my description meta ... if its too short it uses words from within the
content of the page.
Put that into google link:any-expression.com you will see what I mean
