Store personal contacts in ldap?

T

tale

Hello all,

I'm settting up an LDAP server to have a global address book for the
members of a local office. They want to be able to store their
"personal" addresses some where centrally so that if they access their
mail from the website, using a webmail program that we have, that they
can see all addresses (global and personal). Each person would have
their own personal contacts that nobody else could see.

Is this possible?

Here's a little background info. The network is running openldap.
All users run Windows 2000, using either Outlook or Outlook Express to
send and receive mail. The users want to be able to send and receive
email from home. They also want their email contacts at home.
Currently, the users can check their email from home, but they can't
send email, since they aren't on our network.

Thanks in advance,

It's not possible in Outlook, which provides no interface for creating new items on an LDAP server. So, you'd have to provide some other tool to handle that.
