Storing pst file on external hard drive for use on multiple comput

Does anyone know how to store a pst file on an external hard drive for use on
multiple computers? I have multiple pst files for multiple POP3 accounts and
would like for the external hard drive to be the location for the Inbox, Sent
Items, etc. so that I don't have to keep moving files from the resident pst
file to the external hard drive.

For use by multiple computers at the same time? This is not possible, as
the PST files is opened by Outlook in write mode.

However, if it is one-at-a-time, then no problem (but not over a
network; the external drive must be directly attached to the computer
that uses it).

How: just create a PST file on that HD, then specify its location to
each Outlook that uses it (Control Panel | Mail | Data Files).

An imap acct would be better. But if you have a usb drive, you can put a pst
on it. However, you need to be very careful - close outlook and wait a few
min before ejecting the device. Otherwise, you can corrupt the pst beyond
repair. This method would be my last choice. I'd either leave mail on the
server or forward it to a web acct, like gmail.

You could use sync/sharing software that won't risk your data. See
http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/sync.asp for sharing application.

Another option is running your own imap server - you can pop the mail off
the internet accts and keep it in a local mail server. There are many free
or low cost servers, but I'd probably just forward all to gmail.
