Strange behavior of AuditTrail() Function

I am using AuditTrail() Function described in Q197592.
When I open my form I can see the entries created by the
function in the "Updates" control.
But the entries are not visible in the source table -
the "Updates" field of the table is EMPTY!!!!!???????????
How can it be?
