Hi,
We are piloting the rollout of Service Pack 3 for Office 2003 in our office.
Many PC's in our pilot group suddenly begin to show strange behaviour. It
doesn't happen immediately after the update, but it happens sooner of later
and it has not happened on any PC with Office Service Pack 2 on it.
Here's what happens: suddenly but at the same time, both Word as well as
Outlook show error messages.
Word will start but will not run installed plugins. A message appears:
"The document contains macros. Macro language support for this application
is disabled. Features requiring VBA are not available." This message appears
for each of the plugins that are present in the startup directory, although
the macro security level is set to "low". The plugins are then not loaded.
Also, the same message appears when I try to start the VBA editor from the
Tools menu.
When I remove the plugins from the startup directory, the messages don't
reappear, but these plugins are needed in my organization.
Outlook will not start at all: it shows the dreaded "MAPI32 dll is damaged
or wrong version" message. I tried several "solutions" on the internet, among
which the fixmapi.exe method.
Question: HAS ANYONE ELSE SEEN THIS COMBINATION OF ERRORS AFTER INSTALLING
SERVICE PACK 3 FOR OFFICE?
Thanks,
Vincent
