strange error - opening query closes database!

I built and run a very basic query. It selects just a few
fields from a table and runs a calculation on those fields.

I ran the query, it ran fine, and saved it.

Now, when I go to open the query, even in design view, the
database closes!

Why is it doing this?

I can delete and re-create the query, but this error
worries me.
