Strange Error when using Arial font size 12 in MS Word

I have been getting this error in word when I use arial font size 12. It
usually happens the second i hit print, the text is displayed normally until
then. But once it has happened all my word documents do the same thing and
print out as they appear on the screen. The only way I have found to rectify
it is to change the font size which seems to space it out again. I havent
search the forums already so sorry if this has already been covered but I
have no idea what keywords touse!!

According to contributor Bob Buckland: "It's a bug that somehow seems to
have Word misreading temporary files related to the printer currently in
use. You can usually 'unscramble' the display from File=>Print and switch
to the printer properties or to another printer then your normal one, or
close Word and delete all files found on Start=>Search and looking for
~$*.*;*.tmp as the name string then restarting Word." See also

1) What printer are you using? Is it older?
Maybe the Font/character database could use and update from the
manufacturer?
2) have you updated the printer's font database ever?
3) does this only occur whith Arial font 12/ does that mean Arial font 10
and FOnt 14 are fine?

If only 12 is flawed, then I would agree with Graham's reply in clearing the
Printer route in the search options from your Start menu and if that does
not correct it, maybe switch printers (if you have another), run a test print
of the same document, and then switching bak to the original printer.
Good luck.
