Strange Icon on Desktop

Word 2003 SP3

User has put a shortcut on her desktop to a Word file. However, the icon is
the normal Word icon, but it has a black exclamation point on top of a yellow
shield inside the Word icon. Has anyone ever seen this before and can
explain what this icon means? Thanks!

In W2007, it's the icon for a W2007 template.
