Hello --- I have noticed a wierd behavior in OUTLOOK 2003 with regards to
name resolution of Exchange users in my organization and am wondering if
anyone could tell me why this occurs.
I have an Exchange 2003 server (sp1) that runs on a W2k3 server to which I
recently migrated my exchange environment from Exchange 5.5 on Win NT 4.0
(which has been taken out of the Exchange site). My users are all using
OFFICE 2003, which means they now use OUTLOOK 2003 for email.
When a user types in the name of an individual from the Global Address List
who is a member of the organization, initializing auto name resolution, the
result for some individuals is that the Display Name appears along with a
bracketed alphanumeric code, i.e., Jane Smith <B758237B> , while for others
their display name appears along with their alias in brackets, i.e., John Doe
<jdoe>, which presumably is the way they SHOULD appear.
In ALL cases, the name resolves correctly and the email CAN be sent, it's
just that some users appear one way and the rest appear the other way, and I
can't figure out why. I thought it might have something to do with migrated
users from the NT domain where the 5.5 server originated vs. users created in
AD for the 2003 server; however, I have since determined this is not the
case. It also doesn't appear to have anything to do with corruption in the
users .NK2 file, as deleting and then having OUTLOOK 2003 recreate a new .NK2
file for the profile does NOT eliminate this -- the pattern continues with
the brand new file.
Has anyone seen this occur on their systems? How do I get all the entries
to auto-resolve as Jane Doe <jdoe> rather than Jane Doe <B758237B> ??
Please advise; thanks.
