Strange printing problem in Word 2003

Hello all,

I have recently come across a strange problem which is beginning to
affect more and more documents.

When ever I try to print an affected document, a dialog box appears
with the title "Microsoft Office Word". It contains a two line text
input field, and OK button and a Cancel button. I have to click either
OK or Cancel about 20 times in order to get the print to complete. I
can not even click the close button at the top of the dialog to get
round this.

At first I thought it might have something to do with the document
template, or perhaps a rogue macro, but that does not appear to be the
case.

Has anybody seen this, or a similar, problem before, and if so were you

able to get to the bottom of it?

Thanks in advance,

Paul

Hi Paul,

Try going to Tools | Options | General and deselect any WordPerfect
Navigation of Help tools that are selected and see if that doesn't help
you.

Hi Carol,

Thanks for your response. I have checked as you suggested but no
Wordperfet options were set.

This is a strange problem indeed. It only happens on certain documents,
they do not rely on the same template, and everything else about the
documents appears to be OK. I have no problems selecting Print from the
File menu, or clicking the Print button to initiate the print, select a
different printer or to select a portion of the document to print. The
problem occurs once I have clicked OK on the regular Word Print dialog.
That is when this strange dialog appears.

Due to it's format and style, my initial thought was that it was some
kind of macro being called when a print was executed, but I could not
find any evidence to support that.

The strange thing is, if I open an effected document, select all of the
text, copy it and paste it into a new empty document, the problem
follows the text into the new document.

I hope this provides you, or someone else out there with a clue,
because this has me completely stumped.

Thanks for your suggestion,

Paul
