I have a very strange problem that has cropped up with a database that was
converted to 2007 from Access 2000 (mdb). Everything initially worked
properly, but recently when clicking buttons on the main form, if done right
after launching the database, the system crashes with the "must exit"
message. If I open the design view, look at the code behind one of the
buttons and go back to normal view first, everything then works properly,
until the database is closed and relaunched.
Several other strange observations: occasionally, but not everytime, the
when looking at the event procedure "on click" for the button, two other
unrelated code files also open. Closing them all and going back to normal
view makes things work again.
This database is a bit delicate in several other ways, too, that might be
related. Trying to modify or build forms or reports will often cause the db
to become unresponsive and ultimately end up with the "must exit" message,
but after a long time. The button click failure is immediate.
Anybody have a clue what's happening?
