Strange problem with Outlook 2003.

Michael

Whenever I send a message from Outlook 2003 using stationery (HTML) or RTF
it is converted to plain text when viewed on any other computer than the
sending one. It doesn't matter whether it is viewed using OE or Thunderbird
(I have not tried one using Outlook 2003 but it shouldn't matter). If I
send the message using OE all is OK - the email is displayed correctly,
which leads me to think the problem is with Outlook. Disabling NOD32
antivirus does not solve the problem (I thought maybe it was stripping the
HTML out). All settings in Outlook are OK. Any suggestions?

Check Options - Preference Tab - E-mail Options and make sure that "Read all
standard mail in plain text" is NOT checked. I hope this is your problem.

What kind of a mail server are you sending through?

After furious head scratching, Michael asked:

I use Verizon DSL and their mail server. Even sending an email with html
stationary from Outlook 2003 on my main WinXP Pro computer, it is
converted to plain text if viewed in OE or Verizon Webmail using the same
main computer, or on my 2nd Win2000 computer or Verizon Webmail or
Thunderbird. Nothing is selected in the configuration to not download
HTML images, convert to plain text, etc. If I instead use OE on my main
WinXP Pro computer to send a html stationery email, then I can view it
properly on my main or 2nd Win2000 computer in OE or Thunderbird, or on
Verizon Webmail. I keep current with all hi-pri and recommended updates
(Windows and Office). This leads me to believe the problem is with
Outlook on the Win XP Pro system. How long this has been going on I
cannot tell, since I just began noticing it when checking my mail on the
2nd computer. I have noticed by Googling that others have experienced the
same problem but no remedy was forthcoming. BTW, I am an IT/IS expert and
this one has baffled me. I hope someone can help. TIA!!
