Strange Problem with pps file in e-mail

Viewer 2003, ver. 6.0.2600.0

When I get an attached .pps file (slide show) in e-mail and try to open it
I get:
"This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this
action. Create an association in the Folder Options Control Panel"

However if I save it to the hd, usually My Docs then when I click it, Power
Point viewer opens it wth no problelm.

In Folder options it shows .pps file opens with Power point Viewer

Any advice as to why this only occurs with emaill attached pps file but no
problem opening when saved to different location?
