Strange problem with the / key

I have somehow managed to make the '/' key carry out the same function as the
ALT key ie. when the ALT key is pressed the command menu (FILE EDIT VIEW ...
) is selected. My '/' key is also selecting the command menu now.
I accidently pushed a sequence of keys which has made it carry out this
function.

To actually enter the '/' key as the first character is a cell, I have to
press the F2 key and then enter the '/'

Any help to undo this would be really appreciated.

I assume you are using Excel X. If so, check the edit and/or compatibility
options. I believe there is an entry for the alternate use of the / key to
be compatible with Lotus. (This option seems to have been removed for Excel
2004.)

What version of MacOS and MacXL are you using?
