Strange problem with Word97 on 2K (File menu crashes word)

We are having a strange problem with Word 97 on a couple of machines, When the file menu is accessed
word crashes giving this error

The application, WinWord.exe, generated an application error The error occurred on 02/11/2004 @ 12:14:51.219 The exception generated was c0000005 at address 30111D12 (DtkFromTokenDtki)

This is not due to viruses or malware all machines have been scanned with current antivirus updates "or at least non that
are known by mcafee". This problem does also not effect other parts of office like Excel or Access

All machines affected are different spec and build made by different manufactures, They are not using shared templates and dont even access the same files yet all problems arose on the same day

Any help would be much appreciated

Try renaming the normal.dot template to normal.bak or something and then
restarting Word. Problems like this occure when the normal template is
corrupted. Check again that that the machines aren't using shared
templates. The coincidence is too great.

Also could be related to your anti-virus program. Maybe an update on
that day.
