Strange Thing

Hi - I'm using Word 2007.

Sometimes I'll press and hold the BackSpace key - the cursor then moving
quickly backwards, with text being deleted as the cursor moves.

The thing is, sometimes when I do that, surrounding text becomes bolder in
appearance. And then when I release the BackSpace key, and stop deleting
text, then the surrounding text goes back to its usual appearance.

Has that happened to anybody? Is it anything to be concerned about?

I wonder if a little thing like that might be an indication that something
is wrong with the Word program?

Maybe your video card or monitor driver needs beefing up?

I haven't seen what you're describing, but my guess is that it's a display
issue rather than a problem with Word.

Yeah that's what I meant - that maybe Word isn't working correctly on my
computer. I've been checking and unchecking boxes in the advanced section,
but still haven't been able to stop this thing from happening.

Unless you are seeing other strange behavior when working in Word, I don't
think there is a reason to worry.

I believe what Stefan meant, and what I think too, is that there is
nothing wrong with Word. The problem is more likely in your video card
or its driver software, and there is nothing you can "check and
uncheck" in Word to fix it. You might need an updated driver, or a
better video card (for example, one with more memory or faster chips).

If you can't find the cause, and if the display always goes back to
the correct appearance, then just ignore it.

Thanks for those ideas - sounds like you're probably right.

Sorry about posting the same question in a new thread - this forum is really
active, and I figured that this post was probably already out of the picture
- didn't think I would be getting any more replies to this thread - I was
wrong about that!
