Strange Title Property behaviour

For some mysterious reason my Word documents fail to retain the title field
in document properties between saves. All the other fields seem to hang
around. The title field keeps reverting to the word "Subject" which is very
annoying as a number of our business templates directly reference this
field.

Anyone got an idea about how I can fix this strange behaviour

Machine: intel MacBook
OS: OSX 10.4.8
Word: 11.3

Since the other fields retain their values, the only thing I can think
of is that a macro or script is changing the Subject field. Does the
change happen if you disable macros?

I can only disable macro virus protection in preferences and there are no
macros shown under the tools so I suspect it isn't macro related. However,
it seems to have gone away after about the third time of removing and
replacing all uses of the field in one of the business templates. Remains a
mystery but no longer a problem. . .

"The field"? You never said! :)

Some of these properties and their related fields work both ways. If you
have a field such as { TITLE something } or even { INFO title something }
then each time you execute it, the Title document property will be set to
"something". Unless you really want the users to be aable to update a
document property from within the document, stick to { TITLE } or { INFO
title }.
