I'm experiencing a strange problem with opening links from Word, Excel and
Powerpoint.
There is an intranet web site that I visit. The web site requires me to log
in, so when I access a page within the website, I first get directed to the
login page, then it takes me to the page that I originally requested.
For example: I paste the link http://intranetsite1/inbox.asp?user=username1.
The login page http://intranetsite1/login.asp is displayed. I log in and the
http://intranetsite1/inbox.asp?user=username1 is displayed. (Note, if I just
go the login page without requesting a specific URL, then after login I get
directed to the http://intranetsite1/main.asp page.)
This behavior works perfectly as I have described above when using IE6.
However, if I paste the second URL
(http://intranetsite1/inbox.asp?user=username1) into a word, powerpoint, or
excel file, then ctrl+click, or right-click and open the URL, I get taken to
the login page (as expected), but after logging in, I don't get directed to
the link I clicked on... instead I get directed to the main page
(http://intranetsite1/main.asp) as if a different URL was not requested.
