strange Word 2003 "feature"

Bob

I've been using the Office 2003 beta (latest rev) and am
seeing something strange with Word, but only on one
machine. When I highlight a block of text and hit the
delete key, I get a message in the lower-left corner of
the window asking me to confirm the block delete
(yes/no). I don't have this behavior on any of the other
systems on which I'm running the same software, and I
don't see any configuration option in Word that forces
this behavior. Does anyone know how to get rid of this?

TIA.

sounds like a WordPerfect compatibility option, have a look in Tools |
Options | Compatibility (if these paths are still valid in 2003 ...).

Same as in several previous versions: Tools | Options | General: Clear the
check boxes for both items that refer to WordPerfect.
