When I open some documents in Word the app goes away for a min then comes
back. During this time everything else on the computer functions fine.
It only happens on some documents and not others. When I run word from
start it does not not do it until I type something and then not always. I
am able to replicate the error. If I open Word and type g<enter> it hangs.
If I open word and type <enter>g<enter> it is fine. btw - It is not only g
it is any key.
This is a brand new Word install on a brand new virtual machine running
Windows XP. The only apps installed are Lotus Notes, Office 2003 Standard,
and Symantec AV/FW. I have downloaded all critical OS patches and all
Office patches.
If I run winword /a the problem does not happen.
I tried deleting and letting Word recreate normal.dot and that didn't help.
There are no other addons listed that are starting.
I tried the Office diagnostics and oddly enough it found a corrupt file(s)
that it says it fixed but that didn't help. For some reason it doesn't tell
me which file(s) it "fixed". I ran diagnostics again and it didn't find any
problems.
