Strip large attachments from emails leaving the file signature beh

In order to manage pst file size, I often remove extra-large attachments from
sent/received emails. Although this can be done now, it will be nicer if:
1. doing so will leave some evidence of the attachment for reference (file
name and date at the minimum)
2. if this could be done in less steps then now (now it cannot be done in
the preview window, instead the email has to be opened, right click on the
attachment, select remove) Maybe an option on the tools menu is appropriate.

There already exist third party tools to perform these functions. See this:

Brian, thanks. I read and viewd screen shots of from your link site. I
think that it is really critical that a signature of that file being stripped
from the email is left in the email body for future reference and tracking of
our vital communication. It is my suggestion that this important
funcionality be integrated into Outlook by Microsoft.

And I'd rather Microsoft engineers spend their time fixing problems rather
than add functionality already provided by other tools to an already-bloated
application.
