Structure not preserved when pulling site onto new computer from W

I administer a website for our club. I do the work in FP 98 on my computer
at home and then publish it to their website. I recently decided I am not
going to do this anymore and am working on transferring it to another
member's computer. I will buy the latest version of FP and will install it
on his computer.

I decided to do a "dry run" at home by opening front page and importing the
website back in from the WWW. All of the files come back in, but none of the
navigation and etc has been preserved. . .only the files themselves. The
buttons, borders and navigation are not working. What could be wrong? Does
this have to do with File Extensions perhaps not being on the remote server?
I used import command because the publish was grayed out. When I go to work
with the new guy, should I use Publish to put it on his hard drive or import?

Many thanks.

First of all, in my opinion, FP98 is pretty uoutdated and buggy. You
will have to clean up the code when you move to a newer version of FP,
expect more work if you took advantage of FP features (versus sticking
with standard HTML).

Now, for your last question, what *I* would do is to open the site with
the new version of FP and publish it to the "new guy's" computer. Then
the new guy would make changes to the "web" on his computer and publish
to the Internet site.

Importing will never maintain the navigation structure or includes or shared borders, you be able to
publish via FP's http mode between machines.

FYI: Newer versions of FP can handle of prior version features, you will however run into issue with
themes, if they have been updated.
