Don
I asked recently how I could create a 2nd guestbook. Below is some of the
correspondence I received. The most recently I was told to create a new
folder and call it new individuals (without spaces), right click on it and
convert it to a subweb, the just add pages.
I can't figure this out. How and where do I create a new folder (within my
main website, somewhere on the hard drive, etc). Do I use Frontpage to
create this new folder? I saw something in Explorer that allows me to add a
web page, but it then asks for the URL of this web page and that confuses
me. I can't find anything that allows me to "convert" a folder to a
subweb.
As you can see I'm totally confused and baffeled. I'm guessing it's not
that difficult and I'm missing something.
I could use some help in doing this, if you don't mind.
Thanks again,
Don...........
BTW and this is off topic but I use MS Outlook Express to interact with this
newgroup. Tonight while viewing messages my computer locked up. I powered
down but since then I've lost the capability to view all the message that
were originally on this group. Now I only see about a dozen messages, it
appears to be only those since the lock up and power down. Anyone have any
idea what happened to all the others?
Thanks again,
Don.............
"Yes I can add subwebs although I don't know how to do that.
Right now I have a website and within that website is a link for "New
Individuals" ( a band I play in). So a person would go to the main website,
Gourdgeouscreations.com, and then find a link called "Favorite Sites" click
on it and then choose "New Individuals".
I really hate to ask but I will anyhow. How do I create a subweb for "New
Individuals" and then how I would I create a separate Guestlog for it?
I also looked at my folder _private. I don't see anything in this folder.
My guestlog is under the www.gourdgeouscreations.com and listed as
guestbook.htm (actually I see another one right below this and it's titled
"Guestbook.htm and then there is also guestlog.htm). I created a guestbook
and I named it NIguestbook.htm, thinking that would make it different. I
found out it didn't.
So there's everything I can tell you. Would you mind helping me get this
straightened out?
In any event thanks for your response and help,

Ronx said:Does your host support subwebs?
If so, right click on the folder 2ndwebsite and choose "Convert to Web"
Then redo the guestbook properties, ensuring the guestlog.htm is in
2ndwebsite/_private folder, and NOT in 1stwebsite/_private folder.

Don said:Okay. Right now it's like this;
firstwebsite.com/2ndwebsite
Does that look right?
Also, I added a 2nd guest book and just changed the name but all the
messages from the first guest book are there as well. I've kind of been
afraid to delete them from the 2nd guest book because I'm worried they
will
also be deleted from the first guest book.
Can you offer some suggestions?
Thanks,
Don.............
