Student and Teacher Edition Upgrade

D

dean.pullen

I've recently joined a firm where I've found several Student and
Teacher Edition licenses for Office:Mac 2004.

Obviously this has been purchased in error previous to my arrival.

Is there a way to upgrade the licenses, or are they simply wasted
money?

Thanks.

Also, you are not allowed to use the S&T version for commercial purposes.

I have no idea why you say "wasted money"...There is no difference in the
programs whatsoever - Word:Mac is Word:Mac, etc. - but the S/T edition
provides 3 installation licenses per package (whereas the Standard &
Professional only provide 1) & the S/T is considerably cheaper. The caveat,
of course, is that use of the S/T if not legitimately qualified is a
violation of the EULA, so any company or individual who does so is leaving
themselves open to prosecution.

Probably not so much "in error" as *cagey* ;)

Re upgrading, Yes, the S/T packages can be used to upgrade to Standard or
Pro at the upgrade price.

Entourage in S&T is different from Entourage in the other versions. It
can't connect to an Exchange Server. That's not an issue for home use
but in corporate environments with Exchange for mail it couldn't take
advantage of shared folders, public folders, calendaring and contacts.

Hi Bill,

I've never used Exchange, but I can tell you that I can definitely (try to)
set up an Exchange account in Entourage using the S&T version of Office
2004. As far as I know, the Mac Office applications are identical in the
S&T, Standard and Professional editions.

Hi Michel!

To be honest I've never tried. But I thought I had been told by a
Microsoft representative once that it wasn't possible. It would make
sense. I'll defer to you.
