Office 2003 for Students and Teachers contains the same set of applications
as Office 2003 Standard. The individual applications are identical. The two
differ in the EULA.

I went to the web site you referenced and if I understand
it right there is no difference and you can even load it
on multiple machines. It appears to have all the same
functions as the full retail one. Am i right? Guess I
should have been buying the student versions all along.

Functionally, they are the same (as far as I know). But read the
License agreements carefully. There are differences. And I believe
there are limits to the number of "multiple" machines. Also, my
understanding is that one difference is that it is not upgradeable and
will not therefore be a "qualifying" product to get the next version.

Yes. Besides price, the most important difference is that
you won't be able to upgrade the student version to a later
version of Office when it comes out. You will be able to
take advantage of all of the updates that are provided for
Office 2003 of course.
