student/teacher edition questions

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could tell me what proof MS would need
that I would qualify for the student/teacher edition of the new
office suite? Is there something inside the box that I would need
to get signed by the college?

I currently have Office XP (Pro version) and the student/teacher
edition I've seen at amazon (UK) doesn't include Access so my other
question is this, can I continue to use this old version of Access
along with the new versions of Word, Excel, and Outlook without
installing the new version into a different directory?

Hope that made sense.

Hi Kevin,

I believe it depends on where you purchase the software. For example I
know several local retailers who don't ask for any proof.

The Office installation should not remove applications from a previous
version if there is not a replacement.

If you wish to maintain multiple versions of an application (with the
exception of Outlook), during the Office 2003 installation you need to
select "Custom Install" and you should be presented with selections
for maintaining previous versions.

As for installing to a different directory, I believe this no longer
necessary even when maintaining previous versions, but I tend to use
this method out of habit. :)

It would be Amazon (UK). I've just read the reviews and someone
does mention that you don't need an ID. Seems proof isn't needed.

The new versions of Word, Excel and Outlook would be overwriting
the versions I already have. The only Office XP app that would
remain is Access since the student edition doesn't include it. If I
let the new versions of Word etc overwrite the old ones would this
cause problems with Access XP?

It shouldn't cause any problems.
