You will have to purchase a second copy since the STE is a one computer only
version.

Same question for me, except I bought the student
version, Office XP Standard, about a month ago and
installed it on my laptop and now want to install on my
desktop.

The MS web site seems to say you can, but the student
license seems to say you cannot.

You are legally allowed to uninstall it on the desktop and then install it
on the laptop. You'll probably have to give microsoft a call to activate it
however.

I have the same issue. If someone could help I would really appreciate
it. I had read that with office you could install the program on a laptop
alsso, which is what I have done, but it will not work on my laptop. It
says it is installed on too many computers. I only have it on my
desktop. Does the laptop thing not apply to the student version of
Office?

I don't need it on my desktop computer, I only need it on the laptop if
it comes down to that, but I don't know how to make the transfre work.

The Students and Teachers edition can only be installed on one computer. If
you want to use it only on the laptop, uninstall it from your desktop,
install it on your laptop and use the telephone method to activate the
product.
