Style Format For Cells In An Excel Worksheet

I'm doing a worksheet with financial formulas in some cells & dates in other
cells. When I attempt to enter a formula in a cell, completely away from & in
a different cell, the format of my date cells somehow gets overridden & gets
replaced with the number format. When I go into the date cells & change the
format back to date, the formula cells then get overridden with the date
format.

Incredibly frustrating.
