Style losing "space after"

I am losing space afters in a certain style sheet. I add a 6 pt space after
to the style sheet. It applies to my document. I save the file. When I open
it, the style no longer uses the 6 pt space after.

If you did not save the style change to the template *and* the document has
"Automatically update document styles" checked (Tools | Templates and
Add-ins), then you would see this behavior.

I have Word 2007. I can' t find Tools.

It helps if you say up front that you have Word 2007. In that version,
Office Button | Word Options | Add-ins. In the dropdown at the bottom, which
shows "COM Add-ins," choose Templates and click Go. If you have the
Developer tab enabled, click the Document Template button.
