Style Override

In Word 2003, when I apply a style called Step, Word moves it over one inch,
even though I have set the paragraph to be 0 at the left margin. I have
checked everything to determine where Word is getting the information to bump
it over one inch, and everything looks correct.

I have even designated the Step style to not be based on any other style,
including normal--and it still moves it over one inch when I assign the style.

Why is this doing this!

I suggest that you delete the style and start again as it is probably
corrupt. This time, create a paragraph formatted as you want. Select the
paragraph and create a new Style 'based on selection' and give it a
different name.

I have found something new about this problem that may help. This problem of
Word overriding styles only happens on my machine at work. This does not
happen on my coworker's machine, who has the same hardware and software.
Also, I have Word 2003 on my home machine, and I have no problems there
either with the same file that gives me problems at work. So my question
is--what would be on my machine here at work that could be causing this
override?

Track Changes may be enabled or you may have a Gutter set in Page Setup.

No to either of those--I never used Gutter and rarely Track Changes. I
checked and those are at 0 and shut off.

Terry,

Can I send you a copy of a template that has this problem, and I think could
provide a clue as to what is wrong?

Ok. I'll take a look at it for you.
