Style Separator

Is this feature as helpful as it's suppose to be? Whenever I use it on
outline numbering that I have linked to headers, the numbering
disappears and the following paragraph gets joined to the paragraph I
was in when I inserted the SS in the first place. Does that make
sense? Is there are trick to using this feature. Or perhaps I have a
setting in my Word XP that caused my SS insertions to create havoc in
my documents?

I have researched the style separator to death. I would like to share
what I've learned. For starters, when inserting a style separator, yes
it often goes to the end of the paragraph and joins the following
paragraph to it, but the work around for this is to select the ss
(style separator), cut it then paste it to where you wanted it in the
first place. I'll post more stuff later.

TOC levels not displaying

I wanted to generate a Table of Contents based on my outline numbered
headings. I set it up to display levels one and two. However both of
my levels were not displaying. I played around with the Options
feature within the Table of Contents window. There was a check next to
Outline levels. When I removed it, both of my Levels displayed.
