Styled text not appearing in correct format

roger

I distribute large documents to other users for proof reading and
comments. These documents are fully formatted with styles for future
typesetting. On some computers the text does not appear formatted,
although the style name, font and size all appear correctly in the
formatting bar. Reapplying a particular style does not work either. I
have checked Word preferences for some unchecked boxes, but can see
nothing relevant. have repaired priveleges on suspect computers but
still no joy. Any ideas?

Hi Roger:

Check that those other computers have the correct fonts and the correct
PRINTER installed.

Obviously, if the fonts are not there, Word will substitute one of the
default fonts. The document will be correct when displayed on a computer
that does have the correct fonts installed.

Word obtains the measurements for its fonts from the driver of the printer
(the default printer if no other printer has been selected for the
document). If the default printer does not have the required fonts
installed (or can't print them) then the fonts will not be shown correctly.

I could say more if you give me more detail about what you are observing.
Currently your description is not quite sufficient for me to recognise the
problem.

A critical piece of information is the Version and Service Pack level of
Word and your operating system: I need that to go much further.

Cheers

Thanks very much. You were right, the culprits are missing the relevant
fonts. Installed and everything now OK.
