Styleref turns up odd header

i have created a document with a running header (in Word 2007, Vista). The
sections I am tying Styleref to have a unique style that we created, and
these are numbered 27-800, 27-801, 27-802, etc. However, on the first page
and on some pages after that, the heading says "27-100." This is not only
out of place, but there is no 27-100 in the entire document. The text in the
body of the document is fine. Some pages have the correct reference, and
others have the mysterious 27-100.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

I think I just found an answer. Track changes was on while the document was
being edited, resulting in some of the usual gobbledygook, especially around
the automatic numbering on the automatic numbering. When I accepted the
change, the problem disappeared. I'm happy now.

Almost always when StyleRef does something you don't expect it to, the
reason turns out to be that there is text in the nominated style somewhere
that you've overlooked. It can be as simple as an empty paragraph or a
manual page break or as subtle as an end-of-cell marker hidden below the
visible portion of a table cell with Exact row height. The best approach is
to use Find to search for text in your style (leave the "Find what" box
blank and use Format | Style to select the style to search for). This will
usually root out the problem.
