Styles applied in text boxes

In Word 2007, when setting up styles in a document, the styles I have set up
inside a text box does not show up in the styles window.

This was not a problem with 2003.

I'm not seeing that problem here in Word 2007.

Does that happen in all documents, or just in the current document?

What happens if you start Word in safe mode? Does the problem still occur?
(Hold down Ctrl key as Word is starting, then click Yes to start it in safe
mode.)

This document has been saved as a 2003 document. The style for the text in the text box shows in the style pane using the option "in current document". It does not show in the style pane using the option "in use". This is not the only document in which this is happening. Opening in Safe Mode did not help.

Again, I'm not seeing that problem... the styles in the text box show up in
the Styles pane for both In Use and In Current Document.

Do you have the problem if you create a new document?

Here's what I did:

Created a new document.

Saved it in Word 97-2003 format.

Inserted a text box.

Inserted several paragraphs in the text box.

Formatted them using different styles, including a style named "Boogie" that
I just created on the fly.

Checked to see if the styles being used in the text box went away from the
Styles pane when switching from Current document to In use... they did not.

Saved the document, closed it, re-opened it... tried again. Still showing up
for both In use and In current document.

I also tried using an existing .doc file that contained a text box. The
problem did not occur there, either.

I tried it again on a new document, again the style created did not show up
in the style pane "in use". Everyone in our office has the same problem.

I'm seeing the same issue, I think. An instance of a style that appears
within a text box doesn't seem to "count" according to Word. The style pane
counts instances of a style use that are outside any text box, but instances
within boxes aren't counted. And if you set the style pane to "styles in
use," and the style is used only within text boxes, then that style doesn't
appear.

(I'm using just the Word 2007 document format.)
