Styles -- AutoUpdaet by Default?

Can I tweak either Word 2000 or Word 2002 to, by default, check the box for "Automatically Update Styles" for all of the styles?

You can do this with a vba procedure but don't want to do so. You'll end up
with really strange formatting in documents you get from others -- and
probably in a number of your own. Many people modify the built-in styles in
Word for particular documents or templates.
