Styles changing automatically on different machine

I have set my Word 2003 to not update styles automatically and so has my
client. Printer Metrics under Tools/compatibility is also checked off on
both. My document has a few styles all based on a created style of mine (not
Normal), but based on normal.dot. What happens is I have a style in Verdana
10, say called Verdana 10 List. When my client opens the document she gets
the style in Verdana 10 List + Times New Roman and sure enough, the paragraph
is in Times New Roman. What is happening? Each individual style is also set
not to update automatically.

If there is an attribute, say "bold" in the paragraph, that text that is
bolded stays as Verdana 10.

Any help would be appreciated.

Is "Verdana" the default font for the Normal style on your machine, by any
chance? If that's the case, then the Style will just store any deviations from
the Normal style. Verdana probably has a separate font definition for bold,
which is why the entire font would be stored as a deviation from the font used
for the Normal style. Just a guess...
