Styles in autotext do not migrate correctly from 2000 to 2002/2003

A template for quotations contains a number of autotext blocks. Each block
has soms numbered styles in it.
In word 2000 selecting the blocks from the autotext list inserts the block
and the numbered styles are, automatically, numbering through as they should.
But when this template is used by colleques who are using word 2002 or 2003
the text blocks are added to the text but the numberd styles do not
automatically number through.
Instead they all start at 1 , 1.1 or 1.1.1
What went wrong here??

Thanks i advance.

Are users inserting the AutoText in documents based on a template containing
the relevant numbered styles?

Hi Wolter

I've done a test in Word 2003 and with a freshly made AutoText the numbering
continued OK.

Does the numbering come back right when you select the paragraphs and press
Ctrl-Q (reset paragraph formatting)? If so the numbering in the AutoText is
getting taken as direct formatting. That might be fixable by remaking your
AutoText (choosing a set of paragraphs that don't start at 1, and using
Ctrl-Q on them before you start). If not then it might be worth fiddling
with the Paste Options in 2002/2003 (button on the Tools > Options > Edit
dialog) to see if that is having an unwanted effect. However, it could be
similar to the problems of pasting between documents where lists sometimes
refuse to stick to style, and one is forced to do a reset para afterwards.

It took a while but.....
I tried things out on an other location with Word 2003.
All worked normally.
Back to my colleques with a version saved in that Word 2003.
Still the same problem.
Must indeed be something with settings.
But which ones????
