Styles in Trouble

W

Wana

I am posting this on two sites simply because I'm that needy! I've talked a
co-worker into updating from Word 2000 to 2002. Now all her Styles are
acting funny. Existing styles are suddenly adding bullets when not wanted
or not adding bullets when needed. What gives? I've got 2002 and thought I
knew a little bit, but am stumped. Deadlines are near and we've got lots of
docs in a mess!

Go into "Styles and Formatting" and see if the "troubled" Style is "based
on..." another Style. If so, this might be your problem. If it is based on
"Normal" and that style is different between computers, guess what....

The other problem that can exist is if the "Automatically Update" check box
is checked in the "Style", "Modify" screen.

I always create my Styles based on "No Style" and set every attribute that I
want. This way they are usually going to stay the way I created them for
everyone.
