Styles

Hi there

I am creating templates for the office and experiencing
the following problem when working with styles. I would
like to creat Style 1 which will format the heading to
look like
1. Sales and Marketing and then I would like style 2 to be
1.1 Current practice. This works well except when I
create a new heading and apply style 2,it keeps the
numbering from the first heading and wont move to 2.1 it
will just keep on going 1.2, 1.3. Is there a method in
which the style must know that if there a number 2 above
that it must now start at 2.1? I hope that this is not too
confusing. Your assitance will be appreciated.

Unless there's some really good reason to use custom styles, I would
urge you to use Word's built-in heading styles (Heading 1, Heading 2)
for numbering headings of this kind.

Hi there,

Thanks for your reply, I wish it was as easy as using
Microsoft's built in styles, however none of them
have "outlined" numbering. Unless I format one of them to
do this.

I will check out the website, and if I don't come right I
will drop you a mail.

I think you'll find that Shauna's article will make everything plain for
