Sub-Folders disappearing after clicking on main folder

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel
Email Client: imap

I am using Entourage with an IMAP email server (not exchange). If I have subfolders, when I click on the main folder Entourage downloads the messages located in the MAIN folder, then all the subfolders disappear.

I can get them back by clicking receive folder list, but this happens every time I click the MAIN folder. I then have to click every subfolder to re-download all messages in them. But, once I click the main they are gone again, only to be brought back by 'Receive full folder list'.
