Sub Form

Hi,

I need to have a subfrom from my main form which appears when the user
presses a button.

I have tried to add a subform using the subform button in the access toolbox
- but this adds the subform within the main form, which I do not require. It
makes the form look too busy.

I have tried to add a subform using the form function button. This launches
my child form, but the data does not connect to my parent form connecting
this way.

Any thoughts, please?

Simplest solution is to put a tab control in your form.

Put the existing controls in the first page of the tab control, and the
subform in the 2nd page.

Thank you Allen.

I have limited knowledge of this - do you have any intructions or "how to"
guide on this?

Regards,
Ritchie.

The tab control will be really obvious to you when you see it.
There's a (rather messy) screenshot on the bottom of this web page:
http://allenbrowne.com/subquery-01.html
That particular example has 9 tabs across the top of the form;
you only need 2.

To add the tab control, open your form in design view, and click the Tab
Control icon in the Toolbox. (View menu in Access 2003 or earlier; Design
tab of ribbon in A2007.)

Once you have it on your form, select the old controls and cut them
(Ctrl+X). Then click on the first tab of the tab control, and paste
(Ctrl+V.) They will all be in the first page of the tab control.

Now click on the 2nd tab of the tab control. You can place your subform
here. Again, you find the subform control in the Toolbox or on the Design
tab of the ribbon. And there's a wizard to guide you through creating the
subform.
